Ask me anything   Ideas from the Alkemaster

I spent a significant amount of my day trying to figure out why anyone would ever want to be anywhere else.

"What are the industries of the future? Honestly, I have no idea. But one thing I do know is that human beings will reward and honor those talents of heart and mind they have always honored for thousands of years: intelligence, hard work, discipline, courage, loyalty and, perhaps above all, love and a generosity of spirit. Those are the qualities that, at the end of the day, make you live a great life, one that is rewarded by the outside world, and a good life, one that is rewarded only by those who know you best."

I have inherited my mother’s ability to remember the outfits she wore on certain days of her life.

A year ago today, I wore old Levi’s, a green V-neck, and my favorite cardigan. My hair had to be tied up earlier than usual on account of the fact that I fell asleep against the window somewhere between Woodland and Olympia.

I was reluctant to look forward to the day ahead of me and consequentially I was reluctant to place more pride in my appearance.

I didn’t know that I was visiting the place that I would eventually call my home, and I certainly didn’t predict that I would be inexplicably happy here.

I have since learned to dress better, expectations aside.
